My 2022 Goals, Themes, Words of Inspiration, and Resolutions! 1-3-22

Dating this post 2022 was so strange! We are now in 2022! Isn’t that crazy?! It is going to take me the next few months getting used to writing the date with the year 2022, haha!

Anyway, Happy New Year! I hope you all were satisfied with your ending to 2021. This is my first year sharing my New Year’s resolutions, goals, themes, and words of inspiration with the blog! I know this is definitely something I am going to want to continue throughout the years, and I am thrilled to get started!

I love setting goals for myself, I love challenges, and I love the work to make those goals happen and push past those challenges! I do have to say that as many goals as I set for myself each year, I rarely make it through the entire year without losing sight of pretty much all of them. I find myself getting so excited about becoming a better person and improving every aspect of my life, that the number of goals I set becomes unreasonable. Over the years I have learned that for as many goals I make, I have to have things that I’m going to say no to as well to keep a balance. You can’t just keep adding more and more to your life because there is a point where it is simply just impossible to be able to do everything. Believe me, I learned from experience, and it took me forever to realize why I couldn’t reach every single one of my goals. I had way too many!

So this year, in addition to goals and resolutions, I have a word of the year, something I want to focus on, and other snippets of inspiration to follow that. So here ya go!

Goals:

  • Give myself 10 minutes of quiet time in the morning and in the evening — whether that is meditating, reading a book, a devotion, or the Bible, just take some time for yourself to wake up or wind down for the day. This is so important for your overall health and helps to greatly relieve stress.
  • Find time to run on the weekends — knowing my busy schedule with school and dance, adding running to the weekly schedule is simply impossible! So my goal is to set aside time each weekend to go on a run. I love running! It’s great exercise, lots of time to think, and listen to my favorite music and podcasts!
  • Theme for food and eating: moderation! — instead of making all these food restrictions and telling myself what I can and cannot eat, I’m setting a theme, moderation. It’s important to let yourself enjoy the sweet treats and fast food when your body craves it, but moderation is key!
  • Read at least a book a month — and this is outside of school assignments! I love to read, but I often can’t find the time to do so with my busy, busy schedule. 12 books this year seems pretty reasonable! And now that I am setting aside 10 minutes of quiet time in both the mornings and evenings, that should give me plenty of time to read a book in a month.
  • Reach out to a friend or family member I don’t talk to daily once a week — the connection I have with other people is very important to me, so this is an easy reminder for myself to keep up with all the people I love. I enjoy writing letters, and I LOVE to receive letters, so I am planning on using that form of communication as often as I can! If I get too busy, I can always send a quick text or set aside time to make a phone call. Just any way I can stay connected to my people!
  • Plan special family events at least twice a month! — family game night, movie night, or pizza night are just a few ideas to spend time with family! In order to do all of the things I want to do, planning these things in advance is so helpful. And, it ensures that everyone is on board and can give their full attention to that special time together.
  • Rest! — rest, rest, rest! Once again, just making a plan to rest at 3 o’clock on Sunday, is soooo important! I tend to push myself really hard without rest, and that drains energy pretty quickly. My goal is to set aside time to just take a deep breath, close my eyes, and rest.
  • Stay on top of emails! — I get a million emails a day (maybe not quite that many, but a LOT), and it always stresses me out when they pile on top of each other every day that I wait to go through them. My goal is to check all of my inboxes at LEAST twice a day, and to delete the ones I know I don’t need!
  • Open the Bible every day — whether you read a verse, a chapter, or a whole book you are still reading and worshipping over God’s Word! You can ALWAYS find time to open a book, especially if it is the Bible!

Words of Inspiration 2022!:

  • be present in the moment
  • try something new!
  • pay attention to what you pay attention to
  • live your life like a verb — go out and DO things!

MY WORD OF THE YEAR!

And finally, my word of the year! I always have to think long and hard on this, and usually I have to wait until the word finds me! My word of the year is CONSISTENCY. I love this word because it can be used in every aspect of my life! I am going to work towards consistency in…

  • my dance skills
  • my workout schedule
  • resting often!
  • blog posts
  • Insta posts
  • meal plans
  • family time
  • friend time…

and many others! I hope this post gave you some ideas and goals to work towards, and some words of inspiration to reflect on! I’m expecting you all to help me be accountable for my goals! And, I’m going to leave with this last thought: you can do anything you put your mind to if you are willing to put in the work it requires. Go chase your dreams!

xoxo, Joanna
