I hope y’all had a great Easter! I just got back from spring break with my family to North Myrtle Beach and Charleston. We had the best time! Our family has a place in North Myrtle Beach, so we ended up heading there first for 5 days, and then we made a two day trip down to Charleston in the middle of the week. We then drove back up to North Myrtle and spent the rest of the weekend there. It was the perfect mix of relaxation and fun touristy activities. One of my favorite spring dresses is below. It is Crosby by Mollie Burch, a favorite line of mine. My favorite store in Winston-Salem, Monkees of the Village, is where I find Crosby!
I want to tell you all about our few days in Charleston. It was the perfect way to get a little glimpse of Charleston while still covering the highlights of the beautiful city. Below, you will find where we stayed, where we ate, where we shopped, and the activities we did! The pink dress I am wearing below is Francesca’s. My white denim jacket is Free People. I found my skirts at another boutique in my city, Rebecca’s & Co. My white one-shoulder top is Amazon and the white crop top is Pink Lilly. I love finding fashion all over and mixing and matching!
~Stay~
We stayed at the Dewberry and I enjoyed every minute of it! The room was very nice, the service was great, and the food at the bar was super tasty. We never ate a meal there, but the snacks were delicious. My sister and I split the cheese plate and the baked-to-order chocolate chip cookies that were fresh from the oven. I love my cookies warm, gooey, and chewy, and they were exactly that! Here are some pics. They also have a rooftop bar with a stunning view of the city. It is for over 21, so my parents are the only ones that got to enjoy this view!

~Restaurants~
Lunch:
- 82 Queen (LINK)- The food is delicious and has been one of my parents’ favorites for years. They serve fresh, local cuisine and the atmosphere sums up all of Charleston in one meal. When you go, ask to sit in the courtyard. It is beautiful out there!

Dinner:
- Leon’s Poultry and Oyster Shop (LINK)- They are definitely known for their world famous oysters and their fried chicken sandwich. It is one of your more casual dinner spots, and it’s great for families too! The patio is seating is great and it is just a fun casual atmosphere.

- fried chicken sandwich
- avocado toast (small plate)
- scalloped potatoes (side) – sub these in as your side and you won’t regret it!

- The Obstinate Daughter on Sullivan’s Island (LINK)- This is my favorite restaurant we went to on the whole trip! The pizzas and pastas generally stay the same year-round, but the rest of the menu is seasonal, so it changes often. This restaurant is one of the nicer places you will eat at on your trip. It is located on Sullivan’s Island, so not right in Charleston, but not too far of a drive either. We walked on the beach at Sullivan’s Island and watched the sunset before our meal and it was gorgeous! I will include some pics below. On your trip to Charleston, you should definitely spend an evening on Sullivan’s Island!
- Things we loved on the menu
- Miss Carolina pizza – similar to a margarita pizza
- The Rutledge pizza – ricotta, Italian sausage, red onion, local green, mozzarella, provolone picante; it’s so yummy!
- Ricotta Gnocchi – my absolute favorite!

~Activities~
Because we were only in Charleston for two days, our number of activities were limited, but I think we hit the top few. We enjoyed shopping, and boat and carriage tours. Here they are below
- Shopping on King Street – King Street in Charleston is known for its incredible shopping! I will list some of my favorite stores.
- Shoes on King
- Anthropologie
- Urban Outfitters
- J McLaughlin
- Palm Avenue (Lilly Pulitzer store)
- J. Crew
- Impeccable Pig
- Lululemon
- Francesca’s
- Madewell
- The Ben Silver Collection
- Kate Spade
- Sephora
- Kendra Scott
- Free People
- Lake Pajamas
- Roller Rabbit
- Steve Madden
These are just a few of the many, MANY shops on King Street. I think I could have spent several days just shopping!
- Palmetto Carriage Works (LINK) – We went on a private carriage ride around Charleston, and learned about the history of the city. We had a fabulous tour guide who led us through an hour tour of the streets of Charleston. The views were beautiful, it was entertaining, and I learned so much about the city. I would recommend you to take this tour at least once while in Charleston.
- The Charleston Belle: Charleston Harbour Boat Cruise (LINK)- A 2-hour cruise along the Charleston Harbour accompanied with a guide who shared the history of Charleston dating back to pre-civil war up to today. He shared so many interesting facts and stories that were highly entertaining. It was definitely not one of those boring educational cruises. Oh, and if you answered the guide’s trivia questions correctly, you get a free drink or snack! A great recommendation by the concierge at the Dewberry.
What a fun trip! Charleston is the perfect place for fun, great food and of course, fashion!
xoxo, Joanna
