My Top 10 Things to Pack for Sleep-Away Camp! 5/24/21

Hey y’all! Summer is almost here! I can’t believe it. In just a few weeks I will be heading to my home away from home for the 6th time, Camp Greystone. After several years, I finally figured out exactly what and how to pack for camp. Here are my top ten things everyone should bring with them to sleep-away camp. I will link everything.

  1. A disposable camera, or a Polaroid – they are perfect to capture all of the special memories and events! LINK
  2. A CrazyCreek chair (the original) – they are so comfortable and great for sitting around campfires and picnics. LINK
  3. A Kavu cross-body bag – there are so many fun patterns and prints to chose from! This bag is just what you need to carry around your everyday items to each activity LINK (you can peek around the website to find the exact version and pattern you like best)
  4. Chacos – I cannot recommend these more, especially for water activities. These water shoes are incredibly comfortable, easy to get on and off, they last FOREVER, and there is always room for improvement on your Chaco tan! LINK (you can also look around on the website to find the style you want)
  5. A personal fan – when you are living in cabins with no air-conditioning in the middle of the summer, you can assume that it gets pretty hot. A plug-in or battery-powered personal fan is the perfect thing to have right next to your bed! LINK
  6. Dress-up items – OK, this doesn’t mean you need to go out and buy a bunch of costumes, you can simply collect any wacky tacky pieces of clothing you may have and pack them. My cabin often did dress-up theme nights for dinner, and of course it’s fun to dress crazy for Evening Programs! Some examples are crazy socks and neon items from Amazon, fun sunglasses, any color tutu, ugly Christmas sweaters, Hawaiian leis, crazy headbands and hair stuff, face paint, and Onesies!
  7. Friendship bracelet string – Camp seems to be the place where everyone is making friendship bracelets! Whether you know how to make them or not (and if you don’t there will for sure be someone there who could teach you), they are a definite necessity for camp. My cabin mates and I are often making bracelets for each other or teaching each other different patterns and techniques. You can get this awesome thread pack from Amazon. Click HERE.
  8. A Stationery Box – As you probably know, stationery is a pretty standard item to pack for camp, but a stationery box? I cannot tell you how helpful it is to have everything organized and in a single container when you want to write a letter. It is a GREAT idea to go ahead and write the return address on each envelope before you go, or if you are extra on top of it, you already have the return address printed on each envelope. And make a list of all the people you want to write a letter to, and go ahead and write down their addresses. Instead of having to wait until someone writes you, you can write them first!
  9. 3 in 1! – Shampoo, conditioner, AND body wash in one bottle?! WHAT?! I know! I love bringing 3 in 1 to camp because it is so quick and easy to use in the shower. Especially since so many girls have to use the same shower in a short period of time, it is perfect to get you in and right back out. And here’s a bonus; it takes up less space when packing! LINK (I couldn’t find the exact one I use, but this is pretty close!)
  10. Flawless Legs hair shaver – I brought mine to camp the past couple of years and I used it almost every day. It’s hard to shave your legs in the shower when you are limited to only two to three minutes, so the Flawless Legs shaver is so great to use when you are not in the shower. And no water is needed! LINK

Sleep-away camp is one of the highlights of my summers and I think every girl should go at least once in her life! You will make memories you will forever remember. And don’t forget to pack my top 10 items!

xoxo, Joanna
