Hey y’all! Here is my April book review! I read Influence by Sara Shepard and Lilia Buckingham. I was immediately drawn to it because it peeks into the real life of teen influencers, the life that you wouldn’t see from the public eye. The reader explores what it’s like to enter into the influencer world, what it’s like in the midst of it, and what it’s like to escape from it all.
Throughout the book, the narrator shifts between several different influencers’ points of view. We hear from Delilah Rollins as a video of her goes viral, and all of a sudden everyone knows who she is. Delilah is invited to an influencer party in LA where she meets famous actresses Jasmine Walters-Diaz, Fiona Jacobs, YouTube star Jack Dono, and supposedly toxic Scarlet Leigh.
When someone is murdered, Delilah is determined to reveal the killer. As she investigates, truths about the lives of teen influencers are uncovered, and their lives aren’t as glamorous as you may think. The main cast faces issues of bullying, mental illness, and sexuality.
I could not put this book down! I read the whole thing in just two days! There was constant action, and I never knew what to expect. I would rate this a 5/5! Such a great read, you won’t be able to stop!
